New Book Release: The Birth of the Palestinian Nation

The Birth of the Palestinian Nation: The Myth of the Deir Yassin Massacre by Uri Milstein

In the pre-dawn hours of April 9, 1948, men of the nascent Israeli state s underground defense organizations Etzel and Lehi converged on the Arab village of Deir Yassin. By the end of the day, many were dead, Deir Yassin was in Jewish hands, and the epic lies about the so-called massacre that happened there had begun. Deir Yassin is the most infamous episode of Israel s War of Independence. A basic founding myth in Palestinian culture, it serves as grounds for the claim that the Jews undertook genocide and mass deportation against the Palestinians in 1948. The continued Palestinian unwillingness to make peace with Israel stems in no small measure from the place that Deir Yassin holds in contemporary Palestinian consciousness. The Deir Yassin affair is also a founding myth of the new Israeli left, which casts doubt on the justification for the establishment and continued existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish national state. It is therefore not only a historic episode, but a very contemporary one. This meticulously researched book, based on archives and abundant eyewitness interviews, shows that there never was any massacre in Deir Yassin, explains the motivations of the various parties for the blood libel that sprang up around this affair, and probes its consequences. Uri Milstein brings to his exposition of the facts a lifetime of experience in Israeli military history and a keen eye for the truth.

New Book Release: Real Ghosts

Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places by Brad Steiger

The culmination of Brad Steiger’s 50 years of paranormal research, this book is a bold telling of true ghost stories and first-person encounters with the supernatural. Arranged topically, it covers every sort of ghost and haunting: poltergeists, shadow beings, and phantoms alongside haunted apartments, hotels, and trains. From ghosts that still haunt Ohio’s State Reformatory, otherwise known as Shawshank, to Abe Lincoln’s regular consultation with mediums, this compendium delves into the true scary stories from both historical documents and personal accounts. In its 30 chapters, spirits represented include the good (“Ghosts that Saved Lives”), the bad (“Invisible Home Wreckers”), and the ugly (“Demonic Spirits That Whisper Commands to Kill”). The book goes on to unearth the ghastly goings-on and macabre manifestations at haunted places such as museums, churches, graveyards, restaurants, and sacred sites while also instructing how to perform a cleansing ritual to rid a home of unwanted spectral visitors. This second edition is updated to include new stories and compelling evidence of both the existence of ghosts and proof of hauntings that will entertain, induce chills, and make the doubtful believe.

New Book Release: Growing Wings Self-Discovery Workbook

Growing Wings Self-Discovery Workbook-Vol.2: 18 Workshops to a Better Life: Exploring the Multi-Faceted Self by Susan Kalior

Growing Wings Self Discovery Workbook: Exploring the Multi-Faceted Self is designed for the individual, group, or class to step behind self-image and behold the many psychological facets and dimensions that make up his or her human being. These workshops are for the true explorers of human nature, for those who seek to understand the underpinnings of who they are deep within, beyond social programming.

Only when we peer into ourselves and see what is going on in there can we begin to notice and appreciate the complex kaleidoscopic design that shapes our personality. In this, it becomes apparent that what we refer to as "I" is not by any means simplistic. Everyone is complicated and so unique that no outer world advice, way, philosophy, or religion can be one hundred percent right for anyone. And yet, the ambiguity of our own complexity often drives us outward to adopt other people's ideas, idioms, philosophies, or religions that at least, in part, resonate with who we think we are.

New Book Release: We're Missing the Point

We're Missing the Point: What's Wrong with the Orthodox Jewish Community and How to Fix It by Rabbi Gidon Rothstein

We're Missing the Point: What's Wrong with the Orthodox Jewish Community and How to Fix It argues that many communities of Orthodox Jews today have lost sight of basic, indispensable aspects of what it means to be a Jew. Building from sources that should be unequivocal and unarguable, Rabbi Dr. Gidon Rothstein shows how a Judaism more focused on the core essentials would express itself differently from what we see today, in directing us more insistently toward a certain type of a God-centered focus, while also laying out many areas of autonomy and personal choice we similarly neglect. Working his way from sources to practical suggestions, Gidon Rothstein lays out a vision for how Jews can get back at least to making progress on the main road God wanted, instead of stumbling down side alleys.
